How does Laser Hair Removal Work?
When it comes to hair removal, most people know how it works. The hair grows so we shave, wax or use creams to get rid of it temporarily then it grows back and we do it all over again, while always on the lookout for the next method of hair removal that might work better. So, how does laser hair removal work since it is different than other methods? Most people assume that they know, but just to be sure let’s cover a few facts.
- Lasers target dark pigments in the hair and releases heat which is absorbed by the hair follicle so that it is inflamed and disabled to prevent it from growing back. Since dark hair absorbs more light and much easier than light hair, the laser is only effective on black or brown hair.
- During the treatment, you may feel what feels like a rubber band snapping against your skin-that’s it! If you can handle that, then you would laser hair removal would be a great solution for your permanent hair removal.
- To get the best results, laser hair removal should be done every 2 weeks, but the results will show within 6 months. Additional touch-ups should be done as needed after your skin is smooth and hair-free to keep it away.
